The follow pages will go into further details concerning the generalized House Rules of the Cairo After Dark Chroncile. Any questions concerning any of these rules are asked to be directed to the Chronicle Administration.

New Characters
No new character can engage in combat or do any actions that require dice to be rolled until their character sheet is approved. You can play until that point, just not roll dice. If it has been over 2 days and you have not heard back, feel free to check again. AOL has been known to eat e-mail from time to time, and Storytellers are human so we may have accidentally misplaced the sheet or thought we had gotten back to you. So, please, if you think we forgot you, just ask.

Logging
It is not required to log your scenes in general, but if you feel that the outcome of your scene was not correct, and you want a Storyteller ruling on the scene, you do need a log. If the scene goes without problems you can just delete the log. However, if there is a problem, a log is required for a ruling on the fairness of the scene. If you feel a scene was unfair, or someone is cheating, you can (and are in fact encouraged to) call a Storyteller into the room. If none is available, please mail the log to all the Storytellers for a ruling. Yes, this requires that you remember to log things, but if we did not do this then we would be in the middle of a 'he said, she said' argument way too often. Just remember, if you do not log, you are required to abide by the outcome of the scene. Make life easier on yourself: log everything.

Positions of Power
As stated above in the Generation portion of these Basic Guidelines, if you are looking to play character that is sitting within a seat of power, then please do contact a Storyteller before submitting a CS. CS sent that are looking to obtain a seat of power, will be ignored by the Storytellers. Creation rites for a character looking for a seat of power, are the same as any normal character. Though, with a good explanation of the characters history.. Additional points shall be awarded.

Character Expiration
It seems the natural progression of things on an online game that some people may register a character and lose interest, or lose internet access, or all manner of other disappearing act from the game. As STs, we try to keep things as up to date as possible (hah!), which includes knowing which characters are still in the game and which are not. No matter the reason, frequently enough a person will register a character and it will never make it into the game.

Due to the fact that we as Storytellers have to know what remains in the game, and the fact that some character types are limited, we have set up a sort of Character Expiration to keep spots open for those who can play.

If we don't see your character in play (or know from others, that the character has been on the site)for three weeks, we'll email you. If we don't get a response, we'll assume your character is out of play. If we do get a response, but do not see that character in play for another two weeks, it will go in the Out of Play box. From there if you want to play the character, you have to contact an ST to get 'reapproved'.

If something happens that you are going on vacation or out of the country or losing your internet access and know about this in advance, talk to an ST and we'll make a note, and character expiration won't become an issue. If something sudden happens like you lost interet access and you couldn't contact an ST, don't worry - we'll still have your character on file. You just have to contact an ST before playing again.

Diablerizing
There is one thing that elder Kindred dread even more than fire or the light of the sun. This is the sin known as diablerie, or the Amaranth. Among Camarilla society, diablerie is the ultimate crime; those who practice it are subject to the harshest punishments imaginable. It is as loathed and feared as cannibalism is among mortal society. The vampires of the Sabbat, as well as the warriors of Clan Assamite, are said to indulge in diablerie freely, which is yet another reason why the elder hate them so.

Quite simply, diablerie is the act of feeding on a vampire n the way that a vampire feeds on a mortal. In so doing, not only does the murderer consume the victim's blood (vampire blood is far, far sweeter than even the tastiest mortal's), but the victim's power as well. By stealing the life of a vampire closer to Caine, the vampire can permanently enrich his own vitae. In this manner can even the youngest vampire gain the power of the elders, should he have the strength and daring to wrest it from them.

Elders know the crime as the Amaranth; in olden nights, it is said, an amaranth flower was presented to the victim a week before he/she was to be hunted. Kindred legend tells many dark tales of murderous childer betraying and cannibalizing their own sires, and it is for this reason more than any other that elder Kindred harbor such distrust for the neonates among them. Indeed, the great Jyhad itself may well have its roots in this eternal and savage struggle for ultimate power.
