There are lots of dance clubs in Cairo. But go to the suburbs and you’re often left with slim pickings in terms of getting your groove on. The Vault is filling this void nicely. The Vault is a massive dance club with four rooms, each pumping beats to boogie to. Smack in the middle are the remains of the Vault’s prior existence -- it was a huge vault in the 1980s used by Cairo’s elite to store large amounts of valuables. The 8-foot vault door sets the tone for the club’s decor, industrial strength plush. Red velvet and black steel work together to make the interior both inviting and powerful. The music can range from ‘80s replays to cutting-edge electronica, and sometimes even a little Hip-Hop. Dress is club on the weekends, but never too casual. Fridays is International night with a mostly French speaking African crowd.

WW Velvet Lounge CAD
The Velvet Lounge is not that largest club in size, but makes up for it in atmosphere. The tall walls give you the feeling that you are on the set of a Hollywood movie. The room offers no color; as everything is white with wood beams exposed on the walls. The rustic unfinished look matches the oversized couches that appear to have white throw sheets covering them. The couches are a great place to relax. There is one bar and plenty of cocktail waitresses to serve up your drinks. The airy outdoor patio provides a room with a view. Remember, this is not a nightclub so there is no dance floor.
Velvet Lounge has made an impact on the Cairo's Strip with its trendy atmosphere. As the larger mega clubs struggle to draw a crowd, the club scene has been drawn to smaller venues such as the Velvet Lounge. There is no shortage of locals, but it still remains a mixed crowd. On any given night there's a good ratio of guys to gals. There is a mixture of deep and progressive house music that’s just loud enough to enjoy, but enables you to talk as well. Don't miss the Velvet Lounge.

The Windsor Hotel is an oasis of tranquillity amid the bustle of downtown Cairo. The Windsor is also a venerable Cairo institution and boasts a rich history and warm hospitality.
Built at the turn of the century as the baths of the Egyptian royal family, the Windsor served for many years as a colonial British officers club before being purchased by a Swiss hotelier as an annex of the legendary Shepherds Hotel and converted into the 'Hotel Windsor-Maison Suisse.' Today, the Windsor's guestrooms retain an ambiance of faded grandeur and the hotel's famous Barrel Bar remains a popular Cairo rendezvous. More recently, the Hotel has been featured in a number of Egyptian and Hollywood films.
