Character Creation Restrictions
In order to try and keep the characters in a somewhat early stage at character creation, no players are allowed to raise any stat above 3 before the freebie point stage. I realize that this is in line with the standard White Wolf rules, but the next part is my alteration. During freebie points and merits & flaws, the only stats that may be raised above 3 are Attributes and Backgrounds. All other stats are limited to a max of 3 dots through the entire character creation period.
Stories vary in power, and thus the players within the plot - the PC's - must also vary in strength. In the case of a low-power game , you may sometimes need to restrict some aspects of character creation.
Note: Characters coming from Free Forum Chronicles, will be required to start a fresh character sheet according to White-Wolf stats. No points will be carried over from your Free Forum game.
Step One:
Choose your Concept, Clan, Nature and Demeanor. These are quite important, so give it some thought before you move on. Stay away from obvious combat oriented concepts if you're not much of the combative type. If in doubt, please contact the storyteller.
Vassals: ghouls that serve vampires, they are bonded and controlled.
Independents: ghouls that do not serve vampires (they may have at one time, but the bonds have been broken).
Revenants: ghoul families that serve the Sabbat (though a rare few serve the Tremere).
Step Two:
Below we've listed important information to take into consideration when developing your character. After you've discussed the character you'd like to play with the storytellers, please use these sarting stats to create your character:
Attributes: 6 | 4 | 3
Abilities: 11 | 7 | 4
Advantages: Backgrounds: 5; Virtues: 7
Freebie Points: 21
Discplines: 2 (1 Physical, 1 Domitor discipline) Independent ghouls are not restricted to domitor's disciplines, but may be required to choose instinctive disciplines (fortitude, potence, celerity). Some disciplines require intensive instruction and are not available to ghouls unless their domitor teaches them (Thaumaturgy, Necromancy, Chimerstry, etc)
History:
Player's should develop a brief or lengthily history for their character based on the information provided by the storytellers in addition to the character's concept. Histories do not have to be novels -- we'd like to you leave enough room open in case at a later date you would like to embellish or add on to your character's history. Submitting a history with your character sheet is not negotiable.
Personality Traits/Background:
This is extremely important. Give us some information on how your character responds to situations, how they dress, what they look like, and what motivates them. If you have any questions, concerns, or need something clarified never hesitate to contact the Storyteller.
Restricted:
As stated in the beginning of this guideline, the storytellers have modified character creation to suit the game. With that said, here is a list of things we don't want to see on your character sheet:
1. Military Force
2. Elder related Merits/Flaws: including but not limited to: Primogen, Holder of Office, Domain, Harpy, Sheriffs Friend, Former Prince.
3. Other Merits/Flaws: including True Faith, Nine Lives, Lucky, Jack-of-all-Trades, Dark Fate, Precotious, Red List.
Limited:
The following traits are limited in use unless sufficient justification is given at character creation. The storytellers reserve the right to disallow other merits not listed if they do not fit with the character's concept.
1. Arcane: This background should be taken only if it exemplifies your character's concept.
2. Resources: This background is limited to 3 unless sufficient justification is given otherwise.
3. Iron Will and Unbondable: These merits may not all be taken at the same time.
Equipment Lists:
Characters who have items carried on their person needs to have that reflected in their equipment list. Please note: if your character sheet does not reflect that you have a item, then your character may not claim to possess it. Including an equipment list also helps to round out your character.
