Cairo After Dark • Chronicles of Blood & Shadows

Like any other Storyteller that runs a game, Cairo After Dark has some rules that are considered to be the Code of Conduct. Below are a list of current rules that we currently hold with reference to Character Creation and the General Rules. As with anything in life, these are subject to changes and reinterpretations at our whim.

Things that will get you removed:
1. Excessive OOC (Out Of Character) chatting and/or arguing. Basically, if you've been asked by other players or a staff member of Cairo After Dark (a Storyteller) to take your OOC to Private Messages more than three times, you will be removed for a short period of time. OOC is fine until it starts congesting a room and interfering with ANYONE trying to Role-Play. That's what we're here for. If you want to 'chat' with your friends, then Cairo After Dark is NOT for you.

Note: OOC conversation within an open room, once logs have been stated as running or turned on.. is not allowed. Since rules differ for each Storyteller, please pay attention to what is being stated by the Storyteller.

2. Spamming the rooms with blank or nonsense posts or pictures.

3. Posting people's IRL names or information in public posts.

4. Racism, bigotry (stubborn and complete intolerance of any creed, belief, or opinion that differs from one's own), child pornography, posts referring to sexual acts with children or animals.

Note: Child characters are accepted here, sexual activity involving those characters even 'In Character' is not.

5. Harassing other players in an OOC manner, whether in PM or in public or by using an 'anonymous' type name.

    Harass:
    1. to disturb persistently; torment, as with troubles or cares; bother continually; pester; persecute. 2. to trouble by repeated attacks, incursions, etc., as in war or hostilities; harry; raid. As you can see by that definition- "to harass" is a very subjective phrase. Bottom line: if the 'victim' feels harassed, it's harassment and will get you removed.

6. Blatantly ignoring posted room rules (if any posted by ST of room). The game has its rules, each room has it's own. READ THEM BEFORE ENTERING.

7. Being under mature age to play.

8. Mail String or Mass Mailing is not allowed by anyone besides the HSTs. If you are caught doing this, then you shall be reported to AOL's TOS team and removed from further play in the game.

9. Any player that uses any OOC knowledge of one of their characters to clearly influence the knowledge of their other characters without a valid IC SL reason, shall be removed from the game.

10. Any player that threathen to 'cross' characters, and a logs of the act makes it way to the HST.. he/she be removed from the game.

Things that will get your posts removed from the message boards:
1. Excessive use of profanity - at staff's discretion.

2. Breaking any of the rules listed above in your Message Board Standards, set forth by America Online or the Administration Team.

Things that will get you banned:
1. Arguing with a Head Storyteller, Storyteller or an other Cairo After Dark member.

2. Continued removal from the rooms. In other words, if you continue to break the rules posted to above, there will be consequences.

3. Hacking or posting codes to interfere with the chat programming of the game.

Things we suggest:
1. Be familiar with the House Rules of the game.

2. Be familiar with the Role-Player's Creed. It will help you in your role-play experiences.

3. Be respectful and courteous to the other players.

4. Keep your IRL (In Real Life) problems seperate from your role-playing.

5. Do not give out personal IRL information in the rooms. If you must share that info, do it in a Private Message or Emails.

6. Permission to PM here is not needed. In fact, we encourage private messaging as a means of keeping the public room clear for roleplay. However, if you abuse this priviledge and use it to harras, you will be removed.

7. Everyone is to log their own conversation with others when it comes to IC reasons. Unless a Storyteller is present, and states they are logging. We are not responsible for keeping track of what you have done. So, we strongly suggest that you log all conversations that you have.. pretaining to the game.

Things you should know:
1. Cairo After Dark takes no responsibility for for any damages, including but not limited to monetary, technical, or mental/physical, resulting from participation.

2. Cairo After Dark was created by role-players for role-players. Personal role-play opinions of the staff are not necessarily shared by all of the staff or even endorsed by the game and its owners.

3. Cairo After Dark rooms often have accompanying websites which are created and maintained by 'members' of each room. Cairo After Dark takes no responsibility for the content of these sites.

4. Attendance plays a majr role within the Role-Playing Community. Though, we do not accpet that all characters take part in its activities when they apply. Characters on the "Member List" that are never present shall be removed for absolute inactivity within the game.

Note: No one will strip you without a fore written letter asking your active status. This does not mean permanent expulsion and in many cases. As once again, we do understand that somethings can occur beyond the player's control.. and we do not wish to lose members due to the technical difficulties.

5. Screen Names that come back as "This is not a known member" or "Unknown Member of AOL" or "Unknown Email address" for a period of one mun week, without previous notification of temporary departure shall be removed from the Chronicle.

Note: We do not promise that the titles and property you have left behind shall still be available. If you are not here to do your part in your duties within the Society.. it will become available to others.

6. All members are required to state: "CAD: CS#" within their profiles. While providing the information for the Mundane is still considered OOC information.

7. Though not strictly enforced, it is now requested that the members contribute more time in role-playing rooms. Open a room yourself and chances are, people will come to play. Old saying is: "If you open it, they will come". All our public room will be in the "Arts and Entertainment" section of AOL's Chat Forum. Please make sure if you make a room, that is says: "WW - CAD" in the name.

8. Participation plays a major role with the players of Cairo After Dark. We suggest if you do not wish to play in public rooms, that you send logs of your prive room conversations or that you are least post. We recommend at least ONCE a month that you post to remain active.
